(Fra Angelico. Max Beckmann. Walt Disney. Andy Goldsworthy. Mark Rothko. Rainer Maria Rilke. The Gulf War)

ï Each year, Crescent Moon is publishing Passion magazine, four collections of poetry, fiction, reviews, and essays on fine art, cinema, music, politics, philosophy, the media, feminism and many kinds of criticism drawn from around the world.
ï Many writers are being published for the first time here, while others are established writers, who are featured in publications throughout the world.
ï Well-known poets and artists such as Andrea Dworkin, Richard Long, V.S. Naipaul, Peter Redgrove, D.J. Enright, Penelope Shuttle, Colin Wilson, Ronald Blythe, Edwin Mullins, Geoffrey Ashe, Alan Bold and Jeremy Reed are featured.
ï The work ranges from the passionate, erotic and spiritual, to the humorous, polemical and incisive, but it is always entertaining.

Passion is totally committed to being full of emotion.  (Krax magazine)

I very much enjoyed Passion, there is a lot of good work in there.  (Understanding magazine)

    POETRY FROM PASSION MAGAZINE

    Silently you trace out
the big white freak kiss of sun
    X-ed on my tanned back,
then touch me lower, where the clouds
of me are all dew and shock.
Let us practise our nuptial arts.
Let us embrace and if when you come into me
    our sighing cannot be heard
for the sweet growl of thunder overhead,
then let the sky speak for us,
conversing in both fire and rain.
    Penelope Shuttle, from 'Nuptial Arts'

A ladder telescopes into the sky,
a pear-shaped ruby balanced on the top.
I notate Michaux's drawings. Jane gets thin
    by thinking herself vertically
    into the scarlet anemone's stem,
the one that visibly draws on water
to combat entropy. All the way up.
    The window opposite's a cat's square eye,
    a rectangular buttercup.
It stays there half the night. I've seen the man
    collect and recollect a glass
attempting to kill consciousness, too high
to enter sleep by a white door
and float bareback above a violet fish
     so fluent it is water.
    Jeremy Reed, from 'Space Cake'

     PAGAN AMERICA

    _________________

    Passionate poetry from North America

    _________________

Crescent Moon is publishing two collections of poetry each year drawn from all over North America, the Pagan America series. Many poets are being published for the first time, while others are established poets, who are featured in magazines and anthologies throughout the US, and who give poetry readings.
The poetry is passionate, erotic, religious, humorous, manic and always entertaining. There are many surprises in these anthologies, which read as an alternative 'state of the nation' to that put out by the government and the media. The Pagan America books record the secret life of America.
One collection a year features women's love poetry, the other is a mixture.

Pagan America is published in March and September. ISSN 1354-1056

    POETRY FROM PAGAN AMERICA

I breathe clear skies  Arms stretch out
at full stride My open chest pours sky
this side of the hemlock hedge Every current I ride
Running tendril twine I return my body fire
around my long fingers, air, water, earth
growing longer This womb of each wonder
Bound in gleaming leaves I touch touches me
roots seize my feet I'm always coming home
    pulling me into earth
    Janice Bishop, 'Home'
    ï
    You fly out of me
Like a bullet out of a heated gun.
And, as if from a wound,
    Inflicted in the holy strife,
    Your sacred water spurts out
    In its great universal run.
    And I bathe in it,
    And get recharged with life
    For many, many more
    Joyous years to come
       Hanna Rubenstein, from 'Eternal Spring'
