THE HORSE-DEALER'S DAUGHTER

A romantic drama about the power of love to cure depression.

This new play by Jeremy Robinson was inspired by a short story by D.H. Lawrence (The Horse-Dealerís Daughter). Set in 1916, a doctor saves a young woman from drowning in a lake, culminating in a classic Lawrencean scene of the rebirth of the body and the soul through the healing power of love.

TELEVISION ARTS DOCUMENTARIES

Ocean Magic Entertainment has produced a series of arts documentaries, available on DVD and video.

Each DVD features research and resource information, and libraries of images.

LAND ART

A TELEVISION DOCUMENTARY

This new documentary explores the fascinating world of land and environmental art, an increasingly popular area of contemporary art.

For the land artist, the whole planet is an artistís studio. The land artist ranges over the whole globe. A desert, a beach, a field, a forest becomes a studio, a place of creative activity. Land art is a world of  towers and tunnels, stars and scars, pools and pipes, circles and chasms, maps and mazes, stones and cones.
This documentary explores all of the major land, environmental and earthwork artists of the past 40 years, including James Turrell and his vast volcano site in Arizona, Michael Heizerís Nevada desert structures, Robert Smithson and his giant spiral, entropic earthworks, Christoís wrapped buildings and islands, Robert Morrisís environments, Walter de Mariaís Romantic Lightning Field, Hamish Fultonís walks and words, Richard Long and his art of walking, Andy Goldsworthyís natural, spontaneous sculptures, Alice Aycockís mysterious underground mazes, Mary Missís sunken pools and pavilions, and Nancy Holt and her observatory sculptures.

This is the only TV documentary of its kind available on DVD and video.

ANDY GOLDSWORTHY

Andy Goldsworthy makes land art. His sculpture is a sensitive, intuitive response to nature, light, time, growth, the seasons and the earth. Goldsworthyís environmental art is becoming ever more popular: his art books are bestsellers; he has exhibited around the world; important and recent exhibitions include the Sheepfolds project; the Washington installation (2005); Passage (2004); the New York Holocaust memorial (2003); and a collaboration on a dance performance.

This video documentary surveys every aspect of Andy Goldsworthyís art, and all of his major works. It also discusses his relation with other land artists such as Robert Smithson, Walter de Maria, Richard Long and David Nash, and his place in the contemporary art scene in the UK.

This is the only TV documentary of its kind available on DVD and video.

RICHARD LONG

Richard Long goes on walks and the result is art. He makes circles out of stone, slate and sticks. He splashes mud on gallery walls. He produces text pieces in a personal, poetic shorthand. He is perhaps Britainís most successful ënatureí or ëlandí artist and sculptor, with an international reputation.
Richard Longís work is founded on the art of walking, and on walking as art. His walks become 'artwalks', artwalks which become artworks. For Richard Long, (art)walking is (art)working. As he walks he works.
Born in 1945, Long made his first important walk-work, A Line Made By Walking, in 1967. Like most land artists, Long makes indoor (gallery) works and outdoor works. Long's has had one-man shows at most of the major galleries around the globe.  In 1987 he won the Turner Prize. Critics either love him or (like Peter Fuller) hate him.

This is the only TV documentary of its kind available on DVD and video.
